Emily graduated with a degree in History & Political Science from the University of Evansville in 2009 and received her law degree, cum laude, from the Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis in 2012. A 2017 graduate of the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA) Leadership Development Academy, Emily is active in the ISBA, where she currently serves as the Chair of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Committee. Emily is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association (Indy Bar) and serves on the Indy Bar Professionalism Committee. She is also the Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Children’s Policy and Law Initiative. Emily received the Hon. Viola Taliaferro Award from the ISBA’S Children’s Rights Committee in 2019. Outside of her work as an attorney, Emily is also a volunteer judge for Reach For Youth’s Teen Court program and a team leader for the Greater Indianapolis Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build. She is on the organizing committee for the Arsenal 5k Run/Walk, an annual race that supports scholarships for seniors on the near east-side of Indy.
